Te Whenua (The Land)

Te Whenua is a monthly newsletter that is available by subscription. Single issues can also be purchased. It is independent and opinionated. Each issue includes:

• News around NZ Pinot and Chardonnay
• Regional Report – An in-depth look at a single region which includes a tasting report* on current Pinot and Chardonnay releases, assessment of recent vintages, a look at the region’s news and issues.
• JS Unfiltered – An opinion piece on an issue of importance to the industry.

* My MO for the tasting reports is to taste blind the current crop of Pinots and Chardonnay from a given region, in that region. There will be no cost for wineries to submit wines. I will not be scoring the wines in the traditional sense. However, from each tasting I will set aside the wines I really took a shine to. These will belong to a category called ‘The List’ and accompanying each will be notes where my views on the wine will be clearly expressed. Subscribers are free to use material in the reports for promotional purposes. Any non-subscribers making such use of the reports will be hearing from my lawyers. There will not be any notes published for the wines that do not make the List.
